Minnesotans United launches flash mob dance to urge Pride-goers to vote “no”
June 26, 2012
At Twin Cities Pride on Sunday, Minnesotans United for All Families was on top of their game, blanketing the parade and making sure that supporters of the freedom to marry know they should vote "no" to the anti-gay constitutional amendment on the ballot this November.
During the November 6, 2012 election, Minnesota's voters will be asked to decide on a proposed constitutional amendment that would write discrimination into the state constitution by prohibiting the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. Freedom to Marry, a leading and founding member of Minnesotans United, is proud to see the campaign continue to push forward in exciting and innovative strategies, which were on full display during Sunday's parade.
The campaign featured hundreds of volunteers, who collected donations and set out to talk with all of the event's attendees about why marriage matters to same-sex couples. With the support of Gov. Mark Dayton, his sons, General Mills, the Minneapolis School Board, the St. Paul School Board, and thousands of other Minnesotans who don't want to limit marriage for same-sex couples in the state, the Minnesotans United team put forward a terrific showing at Pride that captured the passion and spirit of the campaign.
In one of their most energetic displays, Minnesotans United enlisted the aid of 150 dancers, who joined together at the parade for a flash mob dance urging people to vote "No" on the amendment. Check out the video below, which really kicks off strong at the 30-second mark and expands at 2:00, and also see the photo albums from Twin Cities Pride at Minnesotans United's Facebook page.
