MLK’s Daughter to Head Southern Christian Leadership Conference

Rev. Bernice King, the youngest child of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, on Friday became the first woman to head the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, co-founded by her father. Rev. Eric Lee, a Freedom to Marry Voice for Equality and the SCLC's Los Angeles chapter president, said in a statement Friday that he hopes King will follow her parents' example with respect to the rights of LGBT people.
