NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo Strategizing on How to Bring the Freedom to Marry to New York

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is holding a strategy session today on how to get a marriage bill through the legislature. Bills have been passed several times by the Assembly, but never the Senate. Cuomo made ending marriage discrimination part of his campaign and said it was a priority in his inaugural address.

Legislators at the meeting today include Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell and Senator Tom Duane, who have sponsored marriage bills in the past and will be at the forefront of this year's effort. Getting a bill passed in New York is a top priority for Freedom to Marry. We know that with hard work and help from our supporters and local partners like Empire State Pride Agenda, this can be the year it happens – especially with such a strong ally in the Governor's Mansion.
