Thalia Zepatos of Freedom to Marry to speak at “Politics & the Pollsters” event in NYC

Join Thalia Zepatos, Director of Public Engagement at Freedom to Marry, this Thursday, October 13th from 6 pm-8 pm at the New York Times building, where she will speak on American public opinion data and the freedom to marry. The meeting is a part of the Politics & Pollsters Series and is hosted by the New York Chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR). The presentation will address the recent passage of the freedom to marry in New York State, the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and the changing political landscape in which Americans must address equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Thalia will be joined by Geoff Feinberg of GfK Custom Research North America.

Thalia will discuss Freedom to Marry's work to win marriage across the nation, and Geoff will discuss his research to determine Americans' views on the subject. The program will begin at 6 pm with a networking event, and Thalia and Geoff will speak from 6:30-8 pm. The event is free for New York AAPOR and student members, and $25 for non-members.

Thalia has been with Freedom to Marry for almost two years, and leads the organization's messaging and public education efforts. She previously worked at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and as a political consultant for organizations seeking to win marriage for gay and lesbian couples. She is the author of three books.
