The National Engagement Party comes to Palm Springs and Los Angeles!

This weekend, supporters of the freedom to marry in Palm Springs and Los Angeles will come together to raise funds and awareness for the four battleground states where marriage for same-sex couples will be put to a vote. These two parties are the first events in our National Engagement Party, a networked program of house parties across the country to support Freedom to Marry's Win More States Fund. Hundreds of marriage supporters will participate in the "official" date of the National Engagement Party on Saturday, October 13.

All of the funds raised through the day of parties will go toward Freedom to Marry's Win More States Fund, which will then be strategically funneled into state ballot campaigns in Maine, Minnesota and Washington. More than $10 million is still needed in order for these campaigns to secure victory, so every single party and attendee helps! A few weeks ago, we announced that we met our initial $3 million goal months ahead of schedule, which allowed us to provide the state campaigns with essential funding to buy expensive TV ad time and other early ways to show voters why marriage matters.

The party in Palm Springs will be held tomorrow, Saturday, October 6 at the home of Warren "Woody" Wood and Doug Hairgrove. The Los Angeles party will be held on Sunday, October 7 at the home of Dean Hansell. Read more about the events in Palm Springs and Los Angeles, and check out our generous host committee, without whom these events would not be possible.

Glee actress Jane Lynch will be our special guest at the Los Angeles event. Jane is a member of the event's national honorary host committee, who have lent their support to the National Engagement Party. The all-star list includes Academy Award-nominated actress Anne Hathaway, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Emmy-winning actress Edie Falco, actor Edward Norton, journalist Thomas Roberts, author Andrew Sullivan, singer Lance Bass, and It Gets Better founders Dan Savage and Terry Miller. See the entire list of honorary host committee members HERE.

Be sure to follow along with Freedom to Marry tomorrow and Sunday while we highlight content from people who attend the events! We'll be reposting party attendees' photos and retweeting posts with the hashtag #nep2012. Make sure to submit your content on Twitter and Instagram and tweet using the hashtag if you're attending either of the events!

Corporate sponsors for the event include Orbitz, Geoffrey Kors & James Williamson, and Here Media.

There are four other anchor events happening next Saturday, October 13 - in New York City, San Francisco, Miami, and Washington, D.C. Find out more about these events and RSVP HERE! If you're not near one of those cities, check out other house parties in your area by using our new interactive map!
