Yesterday, the Supreme Court made history when they announced decisions in two landmark cases, striking down the central section of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act in Windsor v. United States and effectively restoring the freedom to marry in California by dismissing Hollingsworth v. Perry on standing. The rulings made history yesterday - and news organizations around the country rushed to cover the decisions, their implications, and why same-sex couples and their families celebrated the amazing news.
