Vice-President Biden on the “inevitability” of a national consensus on marriage

Vice-President Joe Biden appeared on Good Morning America this morning where he said " I think there's an inevitability for a national consensus on gay marriage." The Vice-President's statement comes one day after President Barack Obama said in response to a question from ABC's Jake Tapper:

I struggle with this. I have friends, I have people who work for me, who are in powerful, strong, long-lasting gay or lesbian unions. And they are extraordinary people, and this is something that means a lot to them and they care deeply about.

President Obama also his "evolving" attitudes about the freedom to marry in a wide-ranging interview with The Advocate's Kerry Eleveld.

President Obama and Vice-President Biden's comments come in the wake of two national polls showing a majority of Americans now support marriage for gay and lesbian couples.
