VIDEO: Nearly 1,000 Rally Against Indiana Anti-Marriage Amendment

More than 800 marriage supporters demonstrated in front of Indiana's statehouse yesterday to protest a constitutional amendment that would ban marriage and civil union for gay couples. The state already has an anti-marriage and anti-civil union law on the books. The Democratic leader in the Senate, who opposes the measure, warned that it could even threaten domestic partnership benefits.

The House has already passed the measure, and Senate committee hearings are scheduled for tomorrow. To become part of the constitution, the amendment would have to be passed by the legislature in the next session as well, then approved by referendum.
