VIDEO: ‘Same Sex Meritage’ wine co-founders raise a glass to the freedom to marry

We've had a lot of victories over the past year in the campaign to win marriage nationwide - and with hard work, we plan on celebrating some more victories this year by winning the freedom to marry in more states, growing majority support for marriage, and ending federal marriage discrimination.

What better to celebrate - and work toward greater achievements - than with a bottle of Same Sex Meritage, which, in part, benefits Freedom to Marry?

This week, wine club Cellar Angels spoke with Matt Gold and Josh Stein, co-founders of Same Sex Meritage, on why they began creating the wine, and why they chose the movement to win marriage as their cause. Watch the video below.

Matt Gold, one of the co-founders, also wrote a blog post at Cellar Angels, where he explained more of the origin on how Same Sex Meritage came to be. He wrote:

We haven't singlehandedly overturned DOMA, but we write checks every month to the amazing advocacy group Freedom to Marry. As the official partner of Same Sex Meritage and the other wines we will be releasing in Summer 2013, Freedom To Marry receives $1 from every bottle we sell. It's the only check we look forward to writing. With the support of progressive folks who want equal marriage rights for all, we hope the amount on those checks grows every single month.
