Voice for Equality: Barbara Boxer

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has been a California State Senator since 1992. She is Chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee and Select Committee on Ethics. She has held the position of Chief Deputy Whip in Minority, and currently is the Chief Deputy Whip in Majority. Serves on the Committee on Commerce, the Committee on Science and Transportation and the Committee on Foreign Relations. She is also a former five-term California State Representative for District 6.

During the Proposition 8 campaign, she voiced her opposition to the Ballot measure and her 2010 Senate campaign website declares her full support for marriage equality. She was also one of only 14 Senators to vote against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996.
