Voice for Equality: Daylin Leach

Daylin Leach is a Pennsylvania State Senator who represents the 17th District of Montgomery and Delaware counties. Senator Leach is a graduate of Temple University and the University of Houston Law Center. Leach has been a general litigator for the last 17 years and has taught constitutional law and legal ethics as a professor at Cedar Crest and Muhlenberg colleges. Learn more here.

Leach was first elected to the General Assembly in 2002. His focuses are environmental protection, education, health care and political reform. While in office, Senator Leach has passed legislation providing state funding for breast and ovarian cancer screening for low-income women, and redistricting reform to end gerrymandering. He was elected to the State Senate in 2008 and was appointed the Minority Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Daylin is a member of the Committees on Aging and Youth, Communications and Technology, Local Government Policy and Public Health and Welfare.

Senator Leach is the sponsor of the Pennsylvania Senate bill for marriage equality and recently said during the introduction of his bill at the statehouse:

Six states and 25 countries have already decided to step into the 21st century and finally recognize the civil rights of all couples. Now it is Pennsylvania’s time… We must end the unjust and hurtful discrimination that denies gay and lesbian Pennsylvanians the benefits we offer married couples to encourage monogamy, stability and responsible parenthood.
