Voice for Equality: “Rocky” Anderson

Anderson was Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah, from 2000 to 2008, where he was known for his groundbreaking advocacy for responding to climate change; his awards and honors include the Climate Protection Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the League of United Latin American Citizens' "Profile in Courage" Award.  He is currently the President of High Road for Human Rights.  Learn more here.

Anderson has publicly supported marriage equality since as early as his 1996 bid for Congress. In 2005, Mayor Anderson got the ball rolling by extending domestic partnership benefits to all city employees in order to "provide very real benefits to both the adults and children in employees' families."
