Wash. State Domestic Partnership Referendum Barely Makes Ballot

Washington state election officials announced Monday that Referendum 71 has qualified for the November ballot with 121,486 valid signatures -- less than 1,000 above the minimum required. Supporters of expanded domestic partnership rights are moving to temporarily block the referendum from the ballot, arguing that election officials have accepted thousands of invalid petition signatures.
