In the past few months, Freedom to Marry's national campaign to end marriage discrimination has grown exponentially.??With the support of civil rights heroes, celebrities, members of the clergy, political leaders, and everyday Americans, we are building a true grassroots movement to win the freedom to marry for all loving and committed couples once and for all.
We know what it will take to win: a positive, proactive, and sustained campaign to continue changing hearts and minds, win marriage in the next wave of states, and overturn the federal so-called "Defense of Marriage Act" (DOMA).
Freedom to Marry's Roadmap to Victory lays out the strategy:
- Win marriage in more states
- Grow the majority for marriage
- End federal marriage discrimination
In the last month alone, we've seen that our supporters have a powerful reach and strong commitment to getting the job done, as more than 75,000 of you signed our Open Letter calling on President Obama to say, "I do" to marriage.??
With your help, we have shed light on the lies of our opponents, moved hearts and minds by telling our personal stories, rejoiced as the Obama Administration announced that it can no longer defend DOMA in court, and continued pushing forward with campaigns to win marriage in key states this year, including New York and Rhode Island.?
