WATCH: How we won the freedom to marry in New York

Last summer, when the New York State legislature approved the freedom to marry and Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the bill into law, we knew that the momentum on marriage would only grow stronger. But we're only now beginning to see how large of an impact marriage in New York is having on the campaign to win marriage nationwide. 

The Gill Foundation produced a great video this week chronicling the push for the freedom to marry in New York. The video captures why this win - which occurred with bipartisan support in the state legislature

The foundation spoke with our founder and President Evan Wolfson, as well as our Senior Advisor Sean Eldridge and Third Way's Lanae Erickson Hatalsky, about how we won in New York, what we've learned from the campaign, and how we can apply those strategies to win more states and continue growing the majority for marriage across the country.
