Republican Tom Emmer, a staunch opponent of LGBT rights and the freedom to marry (supported in the race by Target and Best Buy), has finally conceded defeat to Democrat Mark Dayton in Minnesota’s governor race — Dayton will become the state’s first Democratic governor in more than 20 years.

A judge has rejected an attempt by the Minnesota Family Council to intervene in a lawsuit challenging state law that bans marriages of same-sex couples.
Three same-sex couples filed a lawsuit against the state of Minnesota earlier this year arguing that the Defense of Marriage Act signed into law in 1997 violates the state Constitution.

More Minnesotans are receiving unsolicited political text messages in the final days before the election, causing an added annoyance for some voters.
